No gatekeeping and being rude to people who don't agree with you. Leave “gamer” stereotypes out of your comment (e.g. sexless, neck bearded, teenaged, basement-dwelling, etc). Don't compare people to animals, or otherwise deny their humanity. Even if you think someone is the worst human on the planet, do not wish death or harm upon them.

No "justice porn". Posts regarding legal action and similar is allowed, but celebrating someone being harmed is not.

Contrarianism for its own sake is unnecessary and not welcome.

No planning operations, no brigading, no doxxing or similar activities allowed.

Absolutely no defense of GamerGate and other right-wing harassment campaigns, no TERFs and transphobia, racism, dismissing of war crimes and praise of fascists. This includes “JAQing off”, intentionally asking leading questions while pretending to be a neutral party. This also applies to other forms of authoritarianism and authoritarian or criminal actions by liberal or leftist governments.

NSFW threads, such as ones discussing erotic art, pornography and sex work, must be tagged as such.

Moderators can take action even if none of the rules above are broken.

Article by GameDeveloper: The CEO of game publisher Tiny Build has boasted that his company uses ChatGPT in order to surveil their employees in order to find what amounts to grounds to fire them. CEO backpedals and claims his statements were "hypothetical".

And here's the nth example I've seen today of AI being used to ruin the fun jobs rather than automate the tedious ones.

My conspiracy theory on this: part of me thinks its because if the corporate owners of America actually automate the boring jobs, then that means normal people would have time to finally relax and maybe realize how fucked up our country is, and also have the time to more effectively help worker movements.

But if you automate the fun and creative stuff like art, use AI tools to more or less break people… it’s easier to control a bunch of tired and sad people than it is to control people in a normal state.

Worth reading the article — really disturbing

Equating toxicity to burnout is misguided at best, but what's more concerning is the fact that, earlier on in the talk, Nichiporchik spoke about removing problematic players from the company to increase productivity.

So:

  • burn out your workers because of your inability to identify structural issues in your company
  • spy on your workers to identify those who are struggling the most
  • accuse them of toxicity by blackbox ML metrics
  • fire them and hire some new meat for the grinder
