I've always felt that the black cabs were just full of sour grapes since Uber eats into their profits. Black cabs have always been overpriced.

Uber should be held accountable for whatever breach of licence terms or regulations, but my god, fuck black cabbie drivers. Well, most “traditional” taxi drivers in the UK before Uber. Uber is also a terrible company but they at least forced other taxi cabs to catch up.

For example -

  1. Calling for a cab and it never arriving
  2. Asking whether I can pay by card, but then the driver demanding cash instead. Even with a “we accept card” on their door.
  3. And then when paying by cash they conveniently never have quite enough change
  4. Going on much longer routes than required
  5. Parking well outside of taxi ranks and causing traffic around busy areas (like the train station)
  6. Being insanely expensive
  7. Driving like assholes on the road (as does uber drivers, but reporting is significantly easier)
  8. Being rude in general

Black cabs have to be able to take wheelchair passengers though, that's why the cabs are so expensive to buy. I welcome competition as long as it doesn't negatively impact wheelchair users.
