Tl;Dr: the title of the post

I'm going to start HRT in a couple weeks and I need to dress business casual at the minimum at work. I'm not a big fan of dresses and skirts and I don't have a lot of money to buy a ton of new clothes with, so what are some good brands or styles of pants that will keep fitting as my proportions change? I don't want to wear sweats to work until I know what size to buy pants in, but I also have no idea what extent of changes to expect from HRT since no one in my immediate family has transitioned.

Am I overthinking this? I just want to avoid spending a fortune on pants in the next year.

Linen pants! There's a few styles of them but they can be very flexible. I'm just starting to look for some myself so I don't know all the brands but if you search for linen pants online you'll find some advice :)

Just took a look on Amazon, they seem like a great way to get some color into the wardrobe, too

Definitely! They're making me want to get out of my black clothes comfort zone lol

I have two pairs of black elastic trousers that are super comfy and look like dress pants. I got them as a gift, and it’s a random brand I don’t recognize. That said, you could scope out Amazon for some inexpensive options to get you through to the other side of HRT. You could also check out Old Navy’s online options. They tend to have some affordable work pants. Good luck!!

Elastic waistband formal pants are wonderful but I'd make sure to practice tucking with them to make sure you're comfy when you go to work. Black ones are especially forgiving about tuck, and they come in materials ranging from yoga pants material to more dress pants type material. I'd look at Urban Planet or BlueNotes, if those are store you have nearby. You can probably find some online but I would highly recommend trying them on before buying anything.

Old Navy has a style of pants called pixie pants that are meant to be a bit more formal, but also has some stretch and comes in tons of different cuts! They always have sales going on so don't ever buy anything from them for full price lol

I second this. I've worn pixie pants to work for years.
