It depends on your view on life.
Nostalgia is the filter that allows us to look back and only see the good bits, but you can find beauty in all stages of life if you pay attention.
Oh I'm not talking about nostalgia. This comic strip looks to me like a troubled mind trying to repress bad memories. If there would be another picture presenting a child in very troublesome situation, I wouldn't be surprised by it.
Just to be clear: it's a good, really good piece of art. It simply makes me think very sad scenarios...
To me it's a warm look back at the wonderful times we had when were kids, without a care in the world.
It makes me smile and nostalgic at the same time.
