Thoughts on build? (self.buildapc)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by InfiniteVariables to c/buildapc

Hello all. I'm wanting to build a solid 1440p / 144 hz gaming PC with the ability for hobby level streaming and productivity work. With that in mind , would the following components make sense to meet those needs/wants:

12600k

6700xt

MSI b760 mobo

32 gb of 3600 ddr4

VG27AQL1A monitor

What would you all recommend for the case (assuming my components make sense)? Also what wattage psu should I get since some of the cpus and GPUs run higher than their rating? I'd like to get an even beefier cpu but from what I've read air cooling won't cut it for a lot of them.

I'd opt for a Ryzen system over 12th gen intel now. Similar cost, more performance, less power usage & an upgrade path.

I've opted for a microaTX case / mobo as smaller builds are a personal preference of mine.

Thanks for this! I'm into a smaller build I just wasn't sure if I should because I read that it can be more difficult for noob PC builders.

This'll be fairly straight forward.

  • Case still has a PSU shroud to hide cable clutter.
  • I've opted for an m.2 SSD so you don't need to worry about cables to storage.
  • Air cooler isn't too big, so doesn't interfere with any other components.
  • GPU is 270mm, case has 320mm GPU clearance.

All in all, it's smaller than an ATX case, but still very easy to build in with the components above.

Went with your build. Should have everything by the end of the week. Thanks for the help :)

6700 XT might be enough or not for 1440p/144hz, depending on what games you'll be playing, make sure to check reputable sites, (e.g. Techspot/Hardware Unboxed for video variant) if your games will play well enough with it.

I'm not really into most AAA stuff that's coming out so that's why I thought it would be enough. Also I'm fine with around 60 fps but I just want the ability to go higher for eSports/competitive stuff (have no qualms dropping settings for a competitive edge lol)

You're good then, 6700XT seems great fit for your use case.

Hey there, thanks for posting here. I’m down to help but I need to know a budget and if you prefer a certain form factor (ATX, Micro ATX, ITX). Also is this in US currency and are you ok with mail in rebates?

[–] InfiniteVariables 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thanks for the response :). I was planning on just a standard board (that's atx right?). I'm in the US and I'm fine with rebates. As far as budget goes I'm trying to stay around/under $1500 but I'm also open to going over a bit if there's more value in other choices.

Alright cool, illl see what I can brew up.

Also I didn't list it but I'm grabbing a couple 2 tb ssds to throw on there for about 100 each
