Tangentially related, the original MacGyver with RDA also had a lot of clip shows - roughly one per season, IIRC.

They did tons of them actually! Most of the time, they'd piece together random clips from previous episodes and present them as pieces of an overarching narrative that had no bearing on the actual story the episodes were telling. I randomly love clips shows, and The Outer Limits doesn't disappoint. The first one is at the end of Season 1, and one of the others stars Alan Thicke!
