Fun fact 1: English is pretty much the only language where the flesh-eating fruit is actually an apple.

Fun fact 2: In most languages "pine apples" are actually pinecones. Chew on that, nerds!

Likely Elstar, Fuji, Pink Lady or similar. I like the sweeter apples, not a big fan of eating the green varieties as-is, but do love them in salads or other cooking.
