not sure if the error is on my end, but when I try to add an icon or a banner, this error shows up

SyntaxError: Unexpected token '<', " <he"... is not valid JSON

How do I fix this?

I'm having a similar issue here with avatar upload, but in my case I get "Unexpected token 'R' Request er is not valid JSON."

I did resize the image downwards multiple times, in JPG format. Last one I tried was 100x100 in size, 15k, and still got the same message.

I'd also like to know what the visual limits are for avatars, and visual / size limits for banners. Thanks!

EDIT: If it helps, I found this dev / admin response.

Hey, can you share the image that you're trying to upload? You could e-mail it to me at

Generally, images that are too big in dimensions should get resized automatically.

Interesting, I am able to upload this image:

Perhaps it was some kind of temporary network issue? Could you try uploading it one more time?

Oh wow, now THAT one worked. oO

So maybe-- go WebP, not JPG??

Let me test this a bunch more tomorrow and give you my findings, @[email protected].

Thank you so much for being a boss admin!
