I was looking into getting a Window Cleaner to make cleaning windows a bit easier and quicker, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Karcher WV 6 Plus?

The reviews online seem to be pretty good, but wanted some first hand insight :)

We've loved our window vac, WV2 I think, for sucking condensation off the windows. Way less mess and faster job overall than squeegee plus towel and even sucks it up off the sill. Maybe not a smart buy for how expensive it is, but over however many years of mopping up windows... worth

Sounds like it's really worked for you guys :)

Ever tried cleaning the outside of your windows with it too?

No, car windows once, bathroom mirror a few times. Didn't seem like it was worth it for that.

They're fantastic. Wipe down the window with the cleaning solution and then just suction it all off. So much easier than going through 50 paper towels or newspaper.

Oh! The first raving review on here so far :)

How do you find the suction power, and how easy is it to not leave any streaks/missed spots vacuuming up ?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The suction works well. Occasionally if you’re not careful with the pressure on the glass you can leave a streak and have to go down twice.

Not sure if it’s relevant to you, but we have some very high up windows. You can get a pole attachment which works great for cleaning without getting the ladder out.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Actually that is very relevant, as that was one of the reasons we were looking at getting one, was to clean the 2nd floor windows. Does it work well with the pole? Easy to control?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No issues at all other than the awkwardness you’d expect with a weight on the end of a pole.

It works well. We use it every time.

Sounds like you really enjoy your one :)

Thanks for the feedback!

Slow and require technique for good results.

Good for sucking condensation off windows

Oh, doesn't sound too promising?

I run a cleaning company- we tried this once (they gave it to us) and wit was more trouble than worth. Get a blade, good squeegee and an hour of practice. Karcher products are overengineered and amazing in a specific role, and I think this took it s little far past practical.

What would be your recommended method of cleaning the outside of windows on 2nd floors?

[–] HappycamperNZ 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Depending on how often you do them. I would recommend the pure water system - uses resin that strip steel hard minerals from water and leaves it streak free. I think their residential system is ~600, but its also good for washing the house and means you don't need to climb- you may be covered by accident if you fall but the 600 cost to avoid a lifetime of pain is worth it.

Oof, seems their cheapest system runs around $1.2k ?, I was quite interested but that's unfortunately a bit outside the budget at this time.

Cool system though. Will keep it in mind going forward.

Wow, thats gone up.

I have the WV1 which I got to suck up condensation. It works well for that, but I wouldn't use it to clean a window, it doesn't have enough beans

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hmm, I wonder if they've managed to give it a bit more beans with the WV6 Models.

For sucking up the condensation, do you find its quite difficult to not leave any streaks?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I find streakiness comes down to squeegee technique just the same as if there was no vacuum. I can do a pretty good job but my partner is better. Having the vacuum is no magic bullet in this regard

Good to know 👍 Thanks for your insights

Come to think of it, should've just posted this in the daily

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I actually thought this was an advertisement at first.

Honestly, just use a towel and a simple $10 squeegee thing.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

haha yeah, I saw it on the feed as I was scrolling after I had posted, and it made it look so much like an ad.

Thanks for the feedback. Seems the overall theme is they are ok, and to just do it the manual way.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think it's fine. My parents seem to like theirs, however they might have one of the lower end models

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Cool. Thanks for letting me know :)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I use a scoopy plus a towel to decondense the windows, total setup cost $25

I've heard those karcher window vacs are OK though.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Ok as in they do the job

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I've got one at home, only used it the one time and wasn't really impressed with the results; but to be fair that may be down to my technique. It's basically a squeegee with a weak vacuum, and as others have said it's probably easier / cheaper / quicker just to use soap and water.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Seems to be pretty underwhelming. I was planning on using it for indoors and out, and to significantly reduce the time and mess, but it seems it may not be so worth it.
