Independent lawyer Nadija Samour said that this was an unusual request not usually required by the bank, and was “beyond legal.”
The lawyer is saying illegal without saying illegal. Saying "beyond legal" gives her some protection if a judge does make a ruling that it is not illegal.
As If all banks in Germany are state controlled...
This one in particular is owned by the public, meaning the Berlin state government can control who is on the board and appoints the advisory committee.
So, yes, it is essentially state controlled.
Not even all Sparkassen are state owned.
