I seem to be having an issue logging in to Beehaw from a browser. I've tried Firefox and Chrome on Android and Windows, and Safari on an ipad. I either get a spinning circle or no change on the login button. I've tried disabling all of my extensions, but it doesn't make a difference.

I'm able to access it through Jerboa, but Jerboa's still pretty buggy for me.

Has anyone else run into this? Could this just be an issue with the influx of new users?

Same issue here, can't log in, can't register, infinite spinning on any browser.

So, I’m only like three hours old on the Lemmy platform, I’m not sure if it is something I am doing wrong but I also cannot login to Beehaw or Lemmy.ml

@somethingclever same thing when trying to register (I think at least?) just a spinning button and no real action in the network tab of the browser except getting some svgs

@somethingclever this is all I get after trying to register:

Same, but it's selective.

I can access BH on:

  • Internet Explorer (desktop)
  • Jerboa (mobile)
  • Firefox (laptop)

I can't access on:

  • Chrome (mobile)
  • Firefox (desktop)
  • Actual Edge application (desktop) - this one's weird and idk why i can access using IE but not Edge

All come down to spinning wheel.

I've run into issues logging in with Firefox, I get the same infinite spinning circle you describe. I've found that Brave on desktop to be pretty smooth sailing for browsing beehaw so I would suggest giving that a go.

I just tried it, and unfortunately it doesn't work either. I tried Edge as well; same thing.

What browser are you running? If Firefox, what addons do you have that may be stopping network traffic such as U-Block Origin, PrivacyBadger, Noscript, etc...

My main browser is Firefox, but I've tried it on a bunch. Disabling all of my addons hasn't worked, and I tried it with a fresh Chrome install and the stock Edge browser in Win 10.

I'm having the same issue. I'm only able to access through Jerboa, not the website on desktop or mobile.

Had the same problem on mobile with the spinning wheel on the login button. I’m using a password manager to fill the fields and remembered that on some sites, the auto-fill messes with the web page and the values are not properly handled by the login process for some reason. So took a chance and copied pasted my password by hand and it finally logged in! May be worth a try if you haven’t already.

Ho I found why it wasn’t working when using my password manager: the password length must not be higher than 60 characters. When typing/pasting a value manually in the password field, the web page automatically « trims » the excess I guess, but when using auto-fill with a password manager, something gets broken. I changed my password to one with a length of 60 (was using 128 before) and now it logs in correctly every time with my password manager.

That might be it, I usually have a default password length in the 70s. I'll try that after work and see what happens

Update: This actually worked. I was able to log in on Firefox by copy/pasting, changed my password to under 60 characters, and now I can log in everywhere without a problem. There's a chance it was a coincidence, since I hadn't tried logging in for a day or so, but it's definitely working now. Thanks for this; I never would have thought of it on my own.

Glad you got it working!

@somethingclever what are you supposed to get when trying to sign up? Should there be anything more than the spinning button or is that just the sign that the application is awaiting approval?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This isn't while signing up, just logging in with an existing account. I can't remember exactly what happens when registering, but I'm pretty sure I got a page saying that the request needs to be approved and some other instructions.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

@somethingclever then signing up seems to get stuck on the same issue.

I wasn't sure if it was just my comment not getting approved but I've tried for a few days now and never get anything besides the spinning button. 😕

@somethingclever for what it's worth I've now tries signing up with Edge, Chrome, Firefox and Brave on Windows as well as Firefox, Edge and Brave on Android. Same situation all over. Just the spinning icon on the button and no hints of anything happening.

Same issue here, just with another instance. I'm also using Jerboa to access anything.

Edit: For me the issue was a blank space after my username. I deleted it and then it worked for me.
