I have to use Edge on one of the work computers, and after a recent update it changed my search engine from startpage.com to bing, and informed me with a small pop-up by the search bar that they were changing my search engine for my protection because I might have accidentally set it to something other than their recommended bing.

To the "Just use edge, it's as good as chrome anyways" people, this right here is one good example of why not to use it.

Fuck Edge.

And its a horrible reason too, Chrome sucks! Only reason i use it is because they successfully assimilated me into their ecosystem over many years and i dont have the mental energy required to ungoogle myself. I have come to accept that i am google's bitch.

We value providing our customers with choice, so there is an option to dismiss the notification.

If that were true at all, they would have a pop-up in Edge asking if they want to keep using Bing or switch to another search engine.

Not those choices.

I am so glad that I switched to Linux around 4 years ago. What a bunch of wankers. This just really shows that they think your computer is their computer to do whatever they want with. Microsoft is a malware company.

I made my choice by downloading and using Chrome. Microsoft can go F themselves. Choice, my ass.
