Sounds like Lemmy was hacked somehow last night, and their fix for it involved invalidating everyone’s user credentials, so you’ve basically gotta log out and log back in.

I don’t think there’s a way to log out in Memmy, so what worked for me was going to accounts -> change account settings -> edit account and then just clicking “save” without actually editing anything. I’ve seen several others say it worked for them too, so maybe give that a try.

That did it for me. Everything is back to normal now. Posting from memmy

I had to stop using Memmy today. I assume it’s due to the hack? I have accounts on the lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works instances and Memmy says I’m logged in but I can’t see anything. Literally nothing accept my own comments on my profile page.

If you got to profile > the gear icon > accounts you can add new accounts or delete current ones you’re logged into. You could try adding your account information again there. You might be better off switching to wefwef/voyager like me though. I’m sure the Memmy bugs will be fixed in the next day or so but right now it’s unusable for me.

If you go one step further than you said, namely ‘Edit account’ then click Save (without changing anything), it should update your token and load posts again.

However I think there is a bug that prevents this new token being saved, so you might have to do this again if you reach the bottom, or see the ‘no posts’ message again.

It will get sorted out though.

You fixed Memmy! 😂 Thanks for tip. Updates and fixes have been coming out lightening fast so I’ve no doubt it’ll be back to full working order soon. For now this is enough for me to use it again, thank you!

I've been on memmy since the beginning with testflight as a beta tester, moved over to the "official" release version to catch issues in it for helping gdk to make it better and let him know any concerns in it that may have been overlooked in testflight.

Me too. But I switched back to the test flight version because he wants bugs on the official app reported via GitHub and I don’t have/want to make an account there. Plus the official release is a little behind the TestFlight version.

I don’t think you need to worry about loyalty if that’s what’s holding you back. Memmy isn’t working for me today, voyager is. I’ve submitted multiple error reports to let him know, but I want to browse lemmy today so voyager it is. I still prefer Memmy and I’ll switch back when it’s sorted.

There's a solution, but you need another Lemmy account (its instance shouldn't matter). So, you add this second account to Memmy, then you'll be able to remove your first account from the app. Then re-add your account and it will work.

(Yes, I did write "account" quite a lot.)

I had something like this happen last night, and also had all of my saved posts and subscriptions wiped.

Did anyone else wake up to a similar issue?

Yep, my instance did a forced log out because of the exploit over at lemmy.world. App doesn't toss any errors but just keeps showing you cached content.

Sounds like if you add a second account you can delete one, so maybe I will try creating a throwaway and see if that works.

Thanks - hopefully logging back into my instance will fix this! If not, I’ll need to find a better way to track all of my subscriptions locally :/
