Liminal spaces are the subject of an Internet aesthetic portraying empty or abandoned places that appear eerie, forlorn, and often surreal. Liminal spaces are commonly places of transition (pertaining to the concept of liminality) or of nostalgic appeal.

Man, the later Led Zeppelin stuff just wasn’t as edgy.

What if it's a down escalator?

“Escalator to Hell” is closer, but seems a bit more boomer than taking the stairway.

The road to hell is paved with ~~good intentions~~ interlocking movable steps. I could also parody the bible verse, which works especially well because this is a very narrow path, but it's just so damn wordy.

Also, if that's hell, I'm glad to see they have a fire alarm installed.

What terrifies me more is that when it's on, there's no way back.

Oooh! Fun escape room/maze idea. You could add one-way sections using escalators or moving walkways.

That's true! Although you would need an escalator first...

This reminds me heavily of The Oldest View

It involves nearly endless stair cases and a shopping mall. It's so good highly recommend.
