The modern media player for macOS. IINA is free and open-sourced under the GPLv3 license.

VLC also is a really good media player. IINA is an alternative and looks more like a modern Mac app.

VLC is amazing, but it is also a cluttered mess. This feels more like some of the sleeker MPlayer GUIs and is worth giving a shot - if only to see just how different (and still good) it is.

I always keep VLC around like a big Swiss knife, but it's nice to have something else that is elegant and ready to use to supplement it.

VLC + Handbrake is all I’ll ever need. Feels like 20 years going strong with that combo. Though I suppose it could be way less.

That icon looks really good.

After years of VLC I tried IINA like maybe 5 years ago and loved it, but at the same time I rarely use a video player these days. With streaming platforms providing their players, smart tvs and solutions like Plex, I just never double click video files anymore.
