Anyone know how to get the EA app working on linux? I'm having trouble with it, so I can't play the mass effect legendary edition on linux at the moment.

Are you going through Steam or the EA App itself?

If the latter, I would recommend bottles. I found that it works pretty well just creating a new gaming bottle then using the included installer for EA.

I was using steam, but whatever works I'm okay with. I haven't tired bottle. Maybe I'll ahve to give it a shot.

bottle works pretty much all the time. I know some people really do hate flatpak, but personally I hate steam more, so I'm doing anything I can to not depend on it, especially since both the launcher and the client itself are totally inaccessible to orca, the linux screenreader. The best way valve can remediate that, if they care which is a big if at this point, well, fairly easily, just update the chromium embedding to its latest version, or at least 4 versions ahead, then the web ui, the part the embedding is responsible for, will be as accessible to linux screenreaders as it currently is to windows ones. Not perfectly usable, but not a black screen either, that'd be a huge step forward, with little to no intervention from valve themselves.

i always have to launch it using lutris. that may be your issue. if i try to start ea app or one of the games with their start entries in my app launcher, even if it was installed with lutris, it fails. gotta do it through lutris every time. that said i also have had to reinstall it completely a few times after updates.

I have to force proton experimental version when I play from Steam in Linux, it doesn't work with the default version for me. I have an AMD GPU though.
