WIP Wednesday (lemmy.world)

Seems the fun WIP Wednesday names didn't take off so back to the regular post names.

With last week's finish I got to start my new project! I'm super excited for this project. Trying out my Q-snaps and grime guard for the first time also. It's full coverage and about 20k stitches. I'm doing 2 over 1 on 18 count Aida.

I'll get back to the Mondrian project at some point.

That's going to be very cute! How do you like the grime guard so far?

I picked up an old wip (Etsy link) that I'm trying to finish. The hearts are hardanger, and I will need to cut the threads inside of them soon. I'm scared...

It's gorgeous!

Beautiful! Are you going to finish it as a pillow? Looking forward to seeing it finished! I haven't done any specialty stitches. They scare me a bit. I have one almost FO that just needs the whiskers backstitched in and I've been putting it off for months. I should just do it. No time like now to learn.

Edit: Loving the grime guard so far. My hand get sweaty and it helps prevent that. I don't feel like I need to wash my hands several times in a long stitch session.

I think I will make it into a little pillow ornament like in the pattern picture. It's tiny! Only 7 cm per side. I tend to get lazy at the finishing step, so we will see if I actually get it fully finished. :)

I've done the first round of cuts and already had to do a repair thread (got a little snip happy). I have terrible vision and I keep miscounting, but the fix was straightforward.

Glad you like the grime guard! I love mine. I also have sweaty hands. I think it keeps the fabric much nicer on the edges.

I also have a hard time fully finishing my stitching. My mind goes well the stitching is done so lets move on to the next thing. haha

Hah, don't abandon the cause so soon! We could have a lovely community full of not the exact same post title repeated a thousand times, you just have to believe ๐Ÿ˜‚

That pattern is so pretty, but yeah, filling in all the sky is going to be quite the task! Love stitching in blocks of colour like that though, and it'll be a nice break from the confetti at the end of your last one.

That's fair! It's going to take more that one post to change the tide. I'll see if I can come up with something better for next week!

I am also a fan of large blocks of color as evident from my posts. Knowing that not every stitch needs to be perfect like on a sampler or something like that helps a lot. I'm still a very new stitcher and still learning how to keep things neat what better way to practice then with some large blocks!

That pattern looks amazing!!! I want to add it to the ever expanding list of patterns I'm going to do once I finish the patterns I already have! I will make an effort to come up with better post names next time lol

The number of patterns I have saved is more than I could do in my lifetime. It's probably more than 2 lifetimes worth of patterns. I really shouldn't be allowed to even look at patterns anymore. haha

The ones I've already downloaded would last for a couple of years, the ones I have saved in my cart on Etsy would probably span a couple of decades though lol
