Let me add to that. I'm not technologically savvy. Things work or they don't, I have no ability with problem-solving and computers.

Seems to me that recommendation was made because the site doesn't even bother with GDPR compliance. It's up to each individual what they decide to do, but for many people, that can raise red flags about the site's commitment to users' privacy.
