I saw this a lot in Asia and it sounds like a great idea. Also helps to reduce platform noise, which is nice.

Come to Sapperton Station and let's discover together how 60db train arrivals pale in comparison to the real 140db concern. It'll take 20 minutes, max, for for next example to roll through.
That's cool. Now you'll know where the doors will be every time it stops.
I worry these trains will struggle to hit that mark.
They already stop in the same place consistently. Look for the gum and scuffs on the yellow strip. That’s where the doors will open.
. That’s where the doors will usually open.
There. FTFY ;-)
You can already tell by the gum on the yellow strip.
There's a pretty good YouTube video from this guy out of Toronto (I think) who talked about these a week or so ago.
Knew that would be RMtransit. Great creator if you like transit topics or like to learn about infrastructure of the world around you. Weird though that they said 5 years ago that these were 'unfeasible' only to now do another study.( https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/translink-skytrain-station-platform-screen-doors-feasibility) I bet what took them so long was the all the old trains are only just being started to be phased out with the mrk 4 trains. I guess they'll have more consistent door positions once those old ones are gone. I'll be happy to have fewer track intrusion sudden stops
Not from Vancouver but this seems like a good idea. Is track invasion a common enough problem to justify the cost in your experience?
A few weeks back I was out with my kids and heard about someone jumping in front of the train that day.
All I could think was: what if a kid was sitting up front enjoying the ride and looking at the tracks? How would I deal with that if it were my kid?
Sounds like a justified cost to me.
Gotta be honest, I didn't even think about people killing themselves I was thinking more people trying to do graffiti. Yeah that seems a justified cost
I've definitely seen trains get stopped for such reasons... I really feel for the people who have to clean it up.
Seems harder to pull someone off the tracks with these in place.
I also hear people with no easy options will still find a way to accomplish their last goals.
How are they going to end up on the tracks? Doors open after train stops and closes before train starts.
I'm not saying it'll be easy. Wasn't it stadium where a guy hopped a barrier and fell onto the tracks from above?
And each minute inside that aquarium will be so comfy in the summer.
If it's fully isolated it lets them run AC as well.
You're saying "glass it up and A/C the place" as if that's not like shooting oneself in the foot because crutches are fun?
Yay! Every station can be MORE like a greenhouse!
