Off up north for my first game of DnD in over a year, and my first in person game for about 4 years or so. Looking forward to it.
And then dodging rail replacement bus services tomorrow.
A friendly place to chat.
No politics please. Don't be a dick.

Off to see Blur at Wembley!
You might want to go to specsavers... they can probably help you with that.
Oh god. You know your life's gone horribly wrong when you're awake for the UKCasual daily chat thread going live 😭
Other half has just gone out on his weekly hike over the moors, he'll do at least 8 miles depending how hot it gets out there so I have some nice quiet alone time with the cuppa he made me before leaving. I barely get any time for video games atm so am thinking I might just veg out for a few hours with one of the many games on my "wish I had time for this" list.
Most likely this will morph into an afternoon of continuing to veg on the couch but actually doing some work on my own game instead of playing with others. Need to get on with some sewing and crochet this weekend too as we're going on a cruise in just under 4 weeks and I still have half a planned capsule wardrobe to make.
Now if my hands would just wake up and join the rest of me...
Oh how I miss quiet gaming time!
This morning I was woken up by the gentle sounds of child #1 doing a jigsaw puzzle outside our bedroom door at 545. He'd nearly finished, so presumably he'd been there for five minutes or so before I noticed.
I'm heading to the library to get some books, hopefully I can have a nice read while it's raining outside. Then back to the cleaning which never seems to end!
ParkRun for me today then a potter in the garden then torment myself by watching the test match! Might even watch the qualifying for the F1 but we know how that’s going to finish.
I'm up by 6.30, like clockwork. Spending most of the day looking after my baby/doing some housework then meeting up with old school friends this afternoon.
Currently got my tankard of tea brewing...
The radio is telling me there are lots of things on in the Bristol area today, including Southmead Festival, Chipping Sodbury Festival, Bath Carnival, and Bristol Pride.
Unfortunately the weather is looking not so good, and if i starts raining in the next hour or so then I might just potter around the house.
We are going out to a posh restaurant for dinner this evening.
Got a big ol family bbq planned at lunch.. Right when a fucking thunderstorm is gonna hit. We're British though, so umbrellas will be out and food shall get bbq'd!
There are plenty of things that still need doing around the house and garden, but stuff it. I am going for a hike on a footpath that have not so far done since moving here.
The forecasts are saying that the rain should hold off until this evening at least and I am feeling virtuous 'cos I mowed the lawn after work yesterday and sorted out the drivers for the server so that the wifi is working properly and there aren't powerline blocks and cables trailing around any more.
Well, it's Saturday so that means the kids are allowed nutoka (aldi nutella) on toast. The eldest is making it for them both and I'm half-heartedly trying to dissuade her from having it an inch thick.
Thanks you've just inspired my breakfast choice.
You could go the whole hog and top it off with hundreds and thousands.
Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
I was out for a few drinks with work last night, and I've woken with a cracking hangover this morning. I was the oldest there by far and I'm still revelling in the fact that they all thought I was about 10 years younger than I am. They were genuinely gobsmacked when I told them I'm old enough to be their mum (mums?).
I've got a list of things to do today, and have my best mates coming round later for food... We shall see how much I achieve. I remember drunkenly buying a half dead lobelia plant for £1.50 from Tesco on my way home, and sticking it out on the windowsill, so I need to see if that's still alive as well. I'm hoping it might feed a few bees before it dies at least.
The kids had a sleepover at grandparents last night which was amazing. We’ve been dealing with an ill cat who is still on nocturnal going out at night hours but she’s had to be kept in, so she’s been waking us up every night. She’s all better now so she can go out again. And my youngest now has her own room which despite being delighted with, still won’t stay in her own bed and gets in ours. So last night I went to bed at about 9:30 and had a completely uninterrupted sleep until 7:30. Bliss. I am now however full of a cold. Swings and roundabouts.
Took my young son to the working vehicles day at Brooklands Museum. It rained on and off but nothing bad really with our rain coats. It was so quiet too because of the rain so we had a great time!
It blows my mind how many people were there without coats or umbrellas though. Why do so many people look out the window in the morning and decide on the weather. It's Britain so it can change in an instant so just check the weather!
Keeping a weather eye on the radar (click 'Anim On') , much more useful than the forecast.
Kinda melting already, many cold drinks needed today!
Off to see the new baby of a family friend, but it's a good two hour drive away which is always fun with a 2 year-old in the car!
Apparently we're having a barbecue there, but my MIL has been spamming the family WhatsApp chat with screenshots of the weather app showing thunderstorms (she must've sent at least 5) so who knows what the plan is!
Parkrun - I’m a bit achy this week so it will slow. Then laying a garden path using self-binding gravel while dodging the showers.
Fancy a pint and a burger with the missus in the local pub garden this evening.
I'm tired just reading that, where you people get the energy from is a mystery to me.
Going to drop the kids at their cousins and then go shopping for a new wedding ring - mine got stuck on a few weeks ago so I had to break it to get it off. Lesson learned: take it off once in a while and dont leave it on for years at a time.
Oh great thanks for that new nightmare! Only been married 3 months but I've already started to notice mine is leaving a line where I wear it, I'm starting to try and leave it off as often as possible so as to reduce the chance of giving away clues to private detectives if I'm ever on the run.
Hope you find a nice new ring that you love, and maybe pick up a small decorative dish or something for your bedside table and start putting it in there at night!
I had to get my wedding ring resized to a smaller fit, as I kept flinging it across the room whenever I was wildly gesticulating. It's now about the right size, although my finger has a wild range of circumference depending on the weather. Today it's about right, but in winter I can still accidentally turn my ring into a projectile.
TIL: gesticulating is spelt with a g, not a j.
Haha, relatable, I do a lot of hand moisturising so there have been a couple of near misses here also. Wild gesticulation gang!
Did you need to take it off for something specific? I've taken mine off probably twice in five years. My knuckles are quite large compared to my fingers so it's hard to take off but the ring isn't tight when on.
I broke it off because my finger was swollen, I could feel my pulse in my finger and I was getting a bit worried. I'm the same with big knuckles so I didn't realize I had a problem
My crummy old win 7 computer is stuck on the starting windows screen and I'm quietly freaking out. It happened once before and I managed to get it to work again after hours of it doing whatever it did to fix it. Now I'm not sure if powering it off manually is the best option but then I'm thinking, what other option is there?
Turn it off, restart and hammer the F8 key to boot up in safe mode...
I powered off and rebooted without fixing. Just making fresh backups of everything. I can't wait till my Linux box arrives.
Yeah that's on my to-do list, set up a Linux dual boot
Walked to the village (i.e. in the opposite direction to the town), got a takeaway iced coffee. By the time I got home it was no longer iced coffee weather (=raining). Working this afternoon - working days this week are Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Catching up on sleep! Destressing time too!
Off with the parents to a slot car themed birthday party. It'll be nice since I don't get to go to the slot car club all that often since I moved.
Then after that I guess I'll see where the wind takes me. Or the rain as the case may be.
Clean the oven, make some bread (cheating with breadmaker today), do some washing.
Not much else as wife had tooth out yesterday and is feeling a bit out of sorts.
What an exciting life!
Rough as fuck. Despite having folk over tonight I thought it would be a good idea to just have a wee drink last night. Getting up at 8 for fixpacking was not fun. I was absolutely burst - didn’t stop the fucking LDAP before fixpacking, shat myself when I realised!
