Mabuhay at maligayang pag-alis sa Lemmy! ✈️

An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

I'm just surprised they lasted that long. They really didn't manage to get a good enough audience share to get more advertisers, and thus, funding.

The only few handful of advertisers they got (I think only San Miguel corporation?) got a lot of advertisements, even getting whole chunks of programming time, which "cheapened" the channel's appeal to me. Kung nag-iisa na lang ang nag-aadvertise sa isang channel, the entire channel would just seem to be a propaganda arm for that company--rightly or wrongly.

Still, they had a good run, despite the obvious financial problems.

Dayum everything is gone: their channel, their website and even their Youtube page

Some archivists knew that was going to happen but only had a day to save everything they can. Yung Pilipinas debates lang ata and a few notable ones were archived.

No pun intended, but Channel 9 just can’t seem to get a good break since maybe the 2000s (RPN rebrands, Solar TV, and now CNN PH)

I guess the CNN Philippines free agents are going to make a beeline for ANC. That's where most of them came from anyway, and it's the only network where their upper-class delivery would fit.
