Muad’dib didn’t turn himself into a worm. Leto II turned himself into a worm.

The meme is about the Messiah of the Fremen. The messiah of the Fremen is Muad'dib. So you could see how saying "One man turns himself into a worm for us all" isn't applicable since the man who turns himself into a worm is the messiah's son.
