Assuming we draft Carlsson, is he NHL ready, or does he need some time to develop?

He could make an impact in the AHL for sure, but for some reason I doubt he’d get significant minutes in our sweater his first season.

Personally, drafting an eventual 1C is the wrong move considering the deep pool of prospects we already have.

I’d be actually happy reading away our pick for someone who’s ready now, but that won’t happen.

I'll try to find it, but on the CBJ subreddit somebody did a comparison of the Sedin twins, Backstrom, Pettersson, and maybe Lindholm, comparing draft+1 seasons in North America vs remaining in the SHL.

It seemed like Swedish players that remained in the SHL had careers on par or better than those that came straight to NA, so I'm ambivalent on what he does next season. The people that evaluate prospects seem to think he's ready to start in the NHL so ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯
