Yeah, The Netherlands really shows that it's a rich country with it's infrastructure. Maybe the best in the world, especially when you add everything together:

  • good public transport (train schedules are unreliable though)
  • great bicycle infrastructure (only Denmark compares)
  • great roads
  • but what really seals the deal: the level of maintenance and cleanliness: in all European countries you see blown out tires and crap at the side of the road. Not in The Netherlands. Accident? Lane blocked, stewards mostly first to arrive. Damage to road? It gets fixed in hours if needed.

Sounds a bit like Switzerland

Switzerland doesn't have the bike infrastructure.

Yeah the trains kinda suck sometimes. They're nice when they're going on schedule but lately it's been pretty messy. Also, they're just getting more and more expensive

Let's be honest, high population density, friendly climate and flat terrain make infrastructure pretty easy. The only thing they have to content with is danger of flooding from the North Sea

Obligatory reminder that your favourite urban planning explainer has a Mastodon - https://social.notjustbikes.com/@notjustbikes

Sadly people didn't allow healthy discussion to exist there and made him burnout

Oh dear - and Technology Connections doesn't sound too happy with the Mastodon/Lemmy integration either!

Tell Romania and Bulgaria that there are no more borders. :)

Money invested in infra is never money wasted. Kudos to the Netherlands.

The comparison to beach empty and beach full season is stark.

The roads in Belgium are a running joke in the Netherlands. The difference in road quality is so big

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

And where Belgium ends.

~~I shamelessly stole this comment~~

in my town they rebuilt the street to the border of the Netherlands and it took them around 2 years to make the paintings for the bike lanes

I prefer dedicated bike lanes instead of some red and white paint markings on a road. But yeah, Belgium is a notorious neighbor in terms of road and infrastructure maintenance. Crossing borders by car, you can hear and feel the vast difference in road quality between Belgium and The Netherlands.

Payvantage made upgrading my phone so simple. The no-credit approval process was fast and easy. I didn't have to worry about my credit score. I got the latest iPhone, and the payment plan is very affordable. The entire experience was smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend!

I was on the hunt for a used RV and stumbled upon a site that offers an incredible range of options. They have everything from compact campers to spacious fifth wheels, all listed with detailed descriptions and crisp photos. What stood out to me was the ease of navigating the site and the quality of the listings. Each entry provides thorough information, helping you understand the features and condition of the RVs. It's a great resource for anyone looking to explore the RV lifestyle without breaking the bank.https://www.rvpostings.com/
