I read in some places some time ago that Xiaomi will be making things more difficult in the future. If updating to HyperOS will make things harder so I'll pass. If someone has recent experiences about this topic that would be appreciated

I haven't read anything about Xiaomi tightening phone modding, but one thing I remember reading often when it came to modding systems for other devices is, "if possible, never update your system", so maybe something to keep in mind.

Here is a brief article about the changes:

I wouldn't update to HyperOS and this will probably be my last Xiaomi phone if they keep that nonsense in place. I just have to find another company that offers the ability to unlock your bootloader. I think Motorola may be a good option? Are there any others?

In a 12-paragraphs news, with the later half being shorter than the first, the first 5 paragraphs are for praising the security changes (a pretty big red flag), the 6th is for introducing the important part (while using fearmongering), and only in the 7th and 8th paragraphs that they go through the important parts, with the method itself being basically a way to scare all but the most stubborn users.

I seriously suggest that the OP (or anyone else, really) unlock the bootloader as soon as possible, and if possible, changing the OS for anything Xiaomi can't touch.

Yeah, I was posting during my commute and picked the second article from DDG that I found. Maybe I should have put a disclaimer in my post.

No need to worry. Not complaining about the news you found. Rather, I think it was perfect, as a very worrisome aspect could be extracted from it, one that wouldn't be present in the rare news pages that go straight to the point.

Xiaomi is going all Apple 🙄🙄🙄

Actually that's the only aspect of HyperOS I find interesting.

I'm not sure I understand why?

Can you elaborate what you mean with that statement?

Unlock the bootloader first, install a custom rom and root it. Xiaomi.eu may have a hyperOS rom btw.
