I'm confused about the infrastructure. Do those cabinets already have the requisite power lines running in? Otherwise it'd feel arbitrary to retrofit it in.

Most with power as far as I understand things

Some of them do. The power to your home phone came from those boxes which is why the home phone still worked when the rest of the house had no power.

As those boxes run along the road with power lines close by it wouldn't be too hard to retrofit non powered pillars to charging stations.

Yeah but, would those lines be thick enough to carry the power needed for ev charging is what I'm wondering.

It would be nice in more remotes Ares if they also include a mobile booster so if you are charging your car you aren't stuck with crappy mobile signal.

It’s hard to believe a phone booth supports any useful level of power. I don’t know what’s in a “telecom street cabinet”, but I suppose it has to run switches, repeaters and such

For sure pots won't charge cars. But plenty of boxes close to power too
