Cocktails, the libationary art!

A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.

If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.

Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.

Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:

Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.

A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.

On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.

2oz bourbon

1oz Giffard Abricot

1oz Heirloom Pineapple Amaro

1oz lemon juice

Shaken with ice

Very smooth. So smooth. I think next time I will try it with cognac and 3/4 oz of the apricot, and once with a rye whiskey before settling the recipe. It's balanced and delicious I just want to see if it can be better.

I just got a cocktail smoker; this sounds like a drink that lends itself well to being smoked. Based on how it came out, do you think that would make it any better?

Ooh could you try? Yes that sounds good. I don't know if better, but definitely quite good. Maybe with the rye. Wish I had a smoker because that would make 4 variations, that is usually my test flight (invite 3 friends, make 4 drinks, split each into 4 very small drinks, have a tasting, then we have one round of the winner).

It might be a bit as I don't have the ingredients, but it definitely sounds good and I needed something to try out the smoker with (besides the obvious, Old Fashioned)

Hey, it took me a couple of months but I finally got to making a (fairly modified) version of this. Just posted a more full write up in a post but wanted to share here in case anyone comes across the discussion. Couldn't find the same apricot liquor (probably not that different though) or the same amaro. I used amaro Montenegro which from what I saw online is probably the most comparable amaro but don't know how close they are. I didn't realize the only bourbon I had was a maple bourbon so it added more sweetness but the smoking helped with that.
