Yesterday my partner was assaulted by a woman on Manners Street in broad daylight. Out of nowhere she was hit to the ground, before the woman called her a "f***** b****" and kicked her twice on the ground. She'd never seen this woman in her life.

Two people helped her pick up her things, but I was disappointed to hear that no one stayed with her to see if she was okay / wait for the police, given there was a bus stop with people waiting across the road.

I called the cops and they arrested the woman immediately, luckily. They told us my partner was the third person she'd assaulted by 11AM...

Injuries were largely superficial (bruising), but she's pretty shook up. It's worse knowing she's not from NZ originally, it feels hard to tout Wellington as the safe city I remember growing up in. I suspect she'll be avoiding Manners Street for a while...

That sucks. I was punched in the back of the head by a stranger there about 10 years ago.

It spooks you.

Hopefully your partners okay. People are shit and don't want to get involved with other people's businesses.

Did you hear the story of the homeless man dying on Courtney place and no one noticed for 3 days?

People aren't as nice as we all pretend to be.

I hadn't heard that story but if he was bailed up sleeping in blankets I can see how most people would assume he was just sleeping rough as they walked past - but where were the cops, who are theoretically patrolling there regularly and ought to have a pretty good understanding of who the streeties are?

Manners Street has turned to utter shit unfortunately.

Really sorry to hear about your partner, I hope she's doing better now!

Oh that really sucks! Not sure if it's the same woman, but last week I saw a woman walking on Lambton Quay continuously talking in her self, and she was also rambling to others. She was a bit aggressive as well. Never seen her before.
