Loblaws is out of control

A sub devoted to highlighting the ridiculous cost of living in Canada right now. We’d like to thank our corporate overlord Galen Weston Jr. of Loblaws for continually raising grocery prices so he can get a big fat bonus cheque every year while the rest of Canadians struggle to make ends meet.

Not only will I not spend money at Loblaws stores this month, I will also take $750 away from them by using my points.

Even better is a promotion starts tomorrow that if I spend $60 worth of points, they'll add $20 worth back onto my balance.

I just went yesterday and bought $61 worth of things to get as close to 60 as possible, then used 60000 points and got 20000 points back. Getting $60 of things we need for $40 was still a win for me. So even though I agree they already got my money when I accrued the points, the reality is $60 of merch left and they gained ~$1.

So for now my plan is to only buy necessities there and only during similar promotions.
