Windows should now be free, or this should be illegal.
Charge customers for something, and then make more money off of them without their consent.
You consent. It's just that the regulatory bodies have allowed Windows to become the defacto standard in such a way that most consumers aren't even aware of the options. They just assume "PC is Windows".
But you do consent as part of the Windows EULA
EULAs are legally bunk for a whole host of reasons.
Even if they weren't, this sort of bullshit should be considered unconscionable.
