People are (were, presumably) hilariously uncreative naming mountains in particular, or so it seems.

In the course of my usual travels I regularly pass by not one but three pairs of mountains that some oik has named "North Mountain" and "South Mountain." Or some minor variation thereof.

That might have made sense to the pioneers who settled there between the two with oxcarts, for whom crossing the mountains entirely was a major undertaking. But for me, on my motorcycle, I can be north of North Mountain very easily, but then I'm south of the next South Mountain...

I wonder how hard it would be to get a mountain officially renamed. Like how you hear about towns changing their names.
