or have crossed to taking Bethesda money (e.g. Elianora and Kinggath)

That isn't necessarily a bad thing in terms of updates coming out.

It is because the free mods they made dont meet the requirements of being paid mods.

E.g. Sim Settlements is not viable for paid mods, in part because it needs the script extender to function, but also because it has multiple chapters and mods that plug into the core mod.
