Is there a trick to the "Last Stand" event you find in caves/dungeons? (lemmy.fmhy.ml)

It's the event where you find an injured adventurer and two of their companions. They want you to protect them from the waves of enemies but they get melted within the first 10 seconds or so no matter how much I clear the waves. I'm lvl 56 playing T3 and I'm using a melee rogue with really good AoE damage.

Is there a trick to luring the enemies away from the survivors and towards me?

It's very random, if the enemies are doing a lot of AOE, your pals will not survive that as we have no way to protect them from that, or maybe if you have that protection dome aspect, it might help. But if they are standing in any hazard, they'll die quickly. So, it's not your fault. They stand in the fire...
