From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Lemmy can be a bit slow, especially with remote communities.
But damn, if Reddit's only option is the new UI there's no way I'll ever use it.
lemmy.ml is probably slow for you because of the influx of new users you can avoid this by joining a smaller general instance, like sh.itjust.works for example. We have a badass Canadian admin who is keeping our server running extremely smoothly so far. I had major issues when I signed up on lemmy.ml and beehaw, but this instance is running smooth and is nowhere near capacity.
