Wealth inequality is quite a bit worse than income inequality. People often say how our income inequality after taxes and transfers is one of the best in the world, but there's a reason we're so obsessed with homeownership: because it's not about income here, it's all about wealth, specifically real estate holdings.

The Gini coefficient for wealth is 0.66, compared to 0.45 for income
