My fig tree is putting out figs! I grew this tree from a cutting that a neighbor let me take from her tree. Here's what the figs look like when ripe:

It's so small! I wouldn't have expected it to fruit that quick. How many years had it been since you took/rooted the cutting?

Is it a good idea to let it fruit at that size, or would it be better in the long run to remove the fruit buds and let it put all its energy into branches for another year or so?

It might be a better idea to let it grow, honestly, but I think it'll be OK.
