Is this something Americans learn in school? I do not see what the possible use of this knowledge could be, like state capitals. Can anyone shed light on this for a confused Englishman?
Not an lawyer, just my 2 cents. The memorization of specific things is not the true end goal with tricks like this. Teaching people how to apply these to help them memorize things that they need in the future is. They are principles to build off for further education/personal use.
