As a browser-only user, I didn't realise Lemmy (and Reddit) apps give you notifications. It makes sense, but it also sounds like a bad idea to have them on.
I'm a a browser-only user too, and I'm not sure how you could miss notifications existing especially since you have to switch them off manually (possible on kbin, but my short experience on lemmy tells me you can't switch them off at all, which is why I don't use it), but yeah, either way, they're a terrible idea..
Oh I thought you meant push notifications (that remind you of dumb arguments when you're just going about your day). The ones in the Lemmy UI aren't as bad but I can definitely see the issue.
Ah, that makes a lot more sense, and you're right, those are definitely worse!
