Installing Wefwef no longer is a standalone app on Android? (self.wefwef)

I re-installed the web app to get the new icon, but now it is installing as a Chrome home screen shortcut rather than a standalone app I can see in app drawer. Is this an unintended change from wefwef?

The update also messed with the status bar color (no longer matching the app).

Same thing happened to me after reinstalling the app today
