The previous installment of the series had 8 episodes.

The actor noted that he expects he will be saddling up once more as young John Dutton for Season 5, Part 2, following communications with the series creator Taylor Sheridan. He said:

"I did text Taylor [Sheridan, co-creator] a couple of months back and said, 'Hey man, I’ve loved working on the show so much'. He’s like, 'well we’ll be back'. I think we're going to do ten or so more episodes and wrap up the story."

Personally I couldn't get into Yellowstone. It just felt profoundly uninteresting. But 1883 was one of the best pieces of television I've ever seen.

I ended up watching 1883 first and was profoundly interested in the story arc, only to be slowly let down after 1923 and watching Yellowstone proper. Growing up on Westerns, I found it to be a unique modern take on the time period. Unfortunately, the rest didn't live up to the same feeling you mentioned.
