This is most definitely real. I've walked into places like this, looked at the menu, and walked right the fuck out. Have you never been to a major city before? I bought a six pack of bud light at a convenience store in Manhattan for $20 before because it was the cheapest they had. Fortunately I was only there for a couple days for work.

I'm not going to search menus to find the place I was talking about. It was in DC but I can't remember where it was. However, I went to Five Guys a couple weeks ago. I ordered a regular cheeseburger and regular fry, total was $20 without tip. That's fast food, so how is a $22 burger at a hipster place so unbelievable?
Because regular fries serve 2 people. A burger is 12. Almost half the cost of this meme.
If you get the single person fries it's an $19 in one of these more expensive cities.

You're right, and the thread to me seems full of Boomeresque attitudes. The most expensive burgers I've ever had were in Iceland and they were this expensive... But so was everything else. Just about every meal was over $30 there.
