Isn't the issue that in the gulf these drones are being targeted by missiles that are more like $1M each? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flakpanzer_Gepard are not mounted on ships afaik although I expect there are similar solutions. Update: it seems electronic warfare (lasers, microwave, GPS suppression) are favoured as they don't run out of ammo. Against a drone swarm attack mixed with anti ship missiles the ballistics are reserved for taking out the ship killers. Yep, this is also why navies are hell bent on getting working laser defense systems working and installed on their ships.
