Freeway Killer William Bonin was sentenced to death for the murder of 14 teen boys and young men whose naked, sodomized bodies were dumped along California's roads and highways.

The Freeway Killer's identity remained unknown for more than a year as more than 21 young men and boys were sexually assaulted, tortured and murdered between May 1979 and June 1980. Their killer got his name as he cruised the Southern California streets, hunting for victims before he then left their bodies dumped along the sides of major roads and highways.

It's pretty telling that this guy was remorseful for breaking the law, not for the fact that he raped, tortured, and murdered these boys/men.

But I agree, not a very profound or "chilling" last statement.
