Is this a good thing? I don't hear many good things about the British gov't lately.
Honestly, I'm so jaded with this government that I just assume anything they announce is either just a disraction away from whatever ghastly thing they're really doing or it's some culturewar bait to stir up trouble.
Streaming pushes big profits by confusing and underpaying artists, and I don't see many problems with how the bill gets descripted. The problem is that companies have many ways to ease the blow: dropping artists, dropping a market or making a different policy for it alone. Or just pay fees if they'd figure out it's easier.
