Coop with my son was a huge benefit on the switch with those little controllers turned on their side. We started out around that time with Mario Odyssey where my he played as Cappy with its simplified controls and I moved us through the game as Mario. We also played Captain Toad Treasure Tracker because the controls were pretty simple and most of the time he could just practice running around, but there are definitely times you need both players to contribute and I’d end up “borrowing” his controller to get through things. As he got more comfortable moving and jumping, he played more Lego games on his own.
As a general rule for me, anything you can play with a single detached controller on its side was a good candidate because it meant the controls were generally simpler for a kid (or less experienced gamer in general) to manage.
