I've seen a lot of posts here on Lemmy, specifically in the "fuck cars" communities as to how Electric Vehicles do pretty much nothing for the Climate, but I continue to see Climate activists everywhere try pushing so, so hard for Electric Vehicles.

Are they actually beneficial to the planet other than limiting exhaust, or is that it? or maybe exhaust is a way bigger problem?

Man it always surprises how comically aggressive the "fuck cars" crowd are, especially since corporations make an order of magnitude more emissions than individuals, even if in cars. Even though I would beg and plead for good pedestrian infrastructure I'd still be crucified by these guys. It's because I drive to work to avoid dying walking down the only road from my house with busy 60mph traffic, no sidewalk and rough terrain. It's NOT the people's responsibility to walk or bike on neglected, underdeveloped and dangerous "public infrastructure".

I don't care if I have the god given right to sue the ever loving shit out of whomever hits me, BECAUSE I'D BE DEAD.
