Congrats! Tbh, I didn't believe in the second wave that much because I thought that most of the caring users already switched but turns out that I wrong and more people are actually joining which is very good. I can't wait to see for this platform to grow bigger.
Same here, but I'm seeing more and more engagement across the entire platform. It's really exciting watching things grow and I think as more people learn how to use Lemmy and they find communities they enjoy, we'll continue to see activity increase
The main driving force is the apps moving to lemmy.
Lots of people come over if you post or comment about Sync, Boost, Slide, Infinity, Connect (similar to relay) etc
wefwef.app and Memmy are very similar to Apollo already
I am so happy that there are alot of subs like Reddit. They did not listen so we moved!
Had the same thoughts as you. In my mind people who cared about the issue (and not cared for the company’s response) had already taken action. There might be a second small wave now, but we might be looking at a long tail adoption. The important thing is that people find and stumble to content via search engines, and who knows when these engines will be crawling the fediverse…
I tried to come over before but there were obviously challenges. Now this setup is definitely more robust and better prepared for the influx of us refugees!
Ditto, but I’ll be happy to be proven wrong, so I am making an effort to unlurk.
Apparently I should never underestimate the power of procrastination.
I think part of that second wave were people hoping that someone internal at reddit knocking some sense into spez last minute.
