The execs only can see short term gains, and are blind to long term profitability. I find that this is the case for most large companies.

The average executive in a large company would rather pocket $5 today instead waiting 5 years and making $5000 from investing it in the company.

Mainly because they all have a 5 year plan that says it will be somebody else's issue then.
