Mabuhay at maligayang pag-alis sa Lemmy! โœˆ๏ธ

An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

And now, Twitter blocks unregistered users, forcing us to sign-up. Wondering that Reddit, Google, and Bing will do the same thing

Me who've left my Twitter account to rot (and possibly nuked by Stealon Muskrat): Eh, I guess I'll just not.

And yeah! I don't think it'd be long before those that you've mentioned do the same thing: keep everyone not already logged-in out, and preventing anyone else any access.

The end of open Intenet is nigh

Yeah, and once people are locked in to the various walled gardens, the enshittification will accelerate. On top of that, they're making the costs (the effort, etc) to migrate to other services and environments really hard, keeping people trapped.

At least this dystopia isn't that boring, for now, at least.

Fuck Apple for instigating this.
