@rivermonster, What do you have to say about the genocide Israel are currently committing, and what would a proportionate response to it from Palestine look like?
Hamas are pretty self-evidently bad, but they're a product of Israeli aggression and support. Israel helped them to power (and admitted as much) because they knew they'd pull something like October 7th, giving Israel pretext for the genocide. Israel are also killing and displacing far more civilians and children than Hamas would ever dream of.
Your view that Hamas is self-evidently bad isn't a norm among the MHGA kids. So I'd reject even the premise there.
And I think calling the current actions in Gaza genocide diminishes and devalues the term. Doing so is offensive and wrong. War crimes? Sure, I can identify war crimes, but calling it genocide just means that someone doesn't understand what a real genocide looks like.
Plus accusing the Israeli citizens who identify as Palestinians (read 21% of Israel's population) of committing genocide of Palestinians is silly. What is the Jewish population of Gaza, by the way? MHGA kids shout genocide through a combination of not understanding what it means and through, even worse, an attempt to politicize it.
It s like when they quote Hamas saying 23,000 are dead and broadcast that Hamas message like good little recruits. At least 8500 are Hamas terrorists, and another 1000 members of various other terrorist groups in Gaza.
Hamas doesn't separate them out for propaganda. Meanwhile, they celebrate the 72 virgins they get. Yuck.
I don't know what a MHGA kid is, but assume that neither of us is one, so I don't know why you're basing your answers about what you think on what a group uninvolved in this conversation thinks.
Do you doubt the intent, the move toward genocide, or do we need to wait for every Palestinian to be killed? I think South Africa have made A pretty robust case in the ICJ.
I'm accusing the state of Israel - the fact that an apartheid underclass exists isn't the defence you think it is.
So your position on the genocide is that there isn't one. What would a proportionate Palestinian response to Israel's aggression look like?
If you've got issues with whatever the MHGA kids are, take it up with them - I don't know who they are, and can't speak for them.
